Upside Down and Inside Out

Upside Down and Inside Out

It’s Upside Down and Inside Out This Year

Sometimes in life, it’s hard to see through the chaos. The changes that are happening in the world right now have erupted into the air like a cloud of smoke and ash belching from a volcano. Things feel murky, unclear, and even scary.

I remember in 1980 when Mount St. Helens erupted in Washington State. Our family lived almost 1,000 miles away in Cody, WY. Several days after the eruption, a cloud of ash and debris began to fall upon our small western town. The sun was blotted out, plunging us into a string of days that were dimly lit and faded. A coating of ash covered everything in a dusty, gray film. People walked around in masks, and everyone was discouraged against outside activities. For those few weeks, life was unfamiliar. Suddenly strange, and surreal.

I distinctly remember, during that time, how the old way of life felt like a million miles away. The distortion that pervaded everything was unnerving. At 9 years old, I didn’t really know how to comprehend what was going on. I took great comfort in the presence of my parents and teachers. In those moments of uncertainty, it was great consolation to see that the adults in my world pretty much behaved as if things were the same as ever. They went to work, drove to the store, cooked dinner, and went about daily life as if everything was normal. Eventually, the rains and wind of spring washed it all away, and life went back to normal. Sort of.

I recall very clearly that what remained in my young mind was the understanding that the sense of normalcy and stability we all walked around with was mostly a dream. I figured if a volcano erupting 1,000 miles away could have such a huge impact on my immediate life, then the idea of a predictable and controllable reality must be an illusion.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting a lot on that experience. Mostly as I witness a huge part of the population just beginning to wake up.

Years ago, my guides told me, “This is awakening on a global scale, and some of you just happen to need a really loud alarm.” Clearly, the alarm is ringing and getting louder.

When I experienced my awakening, it was wild, disorienting, and overwhelming for sure. Yet, at the same time, it was strangely comforting. From day one, I have experienced life as someone who is on the fringes. Questioning the consensus reality wasn’t a new experience for me; it was normal life. It’s what I was built for. Once I made it through the shock of my initial awakening, I began to see that in many ways, it was a permission slip to stop trying so hard to fit into a reality that wasn’t built for me in the first place. I know I am not alone in the feeling of having been born into a reality where you don’t quite fit in. Generally speaking, I would say that most of us who have been awake and consciously on our path for the past 10+ years fall into that category.

The difference between those who were born outsiders and the group that is awakening now is that the newly awakened are (again, generally speaking) of the mind where the consensus reality was home. It was not only the normal everyday life, it was familiar and comfortable. The idea that there was an acceptable narrative and a group of authorities (both individuals and institutions) that were a source of clarity and guidance was expected and embraced.

The chaos that has been brewing for the past few years, and that’s now freely erupting, is a lot for anyone to handle. Especially for those who have historically had their faith and support fully invested in the material, empirical reality outside of them. When life goes from the predictable to the unprecedented, the shift is tectonic. It’s completely up-ending. It doesn’t just rock the foundations of a worldview, it shatters them.

Over the past few months, I have been working with a lot of people who are just waking up. They've had many powerful insights and experiences. A common thread through most of their awakening is that they’re still looking for a source of authority outside of themselves. Though they are aware that things aren’t what they used to be, they’re still craving the comfort of someone telling them what is true. They feel a drive to find a figure to tell them what is right and wrong, and what their identity is within this new landscape. The challenge that many are facing right now is accepting that the ultimate authority is the one that lives within.

This isn’t just a new chapter humanity has started, it’s a whole new book.

The days of top-down authority and systems of control are falling fast. Chaos is almost always the vehicle through which change arrives. Especially when it’s of the magnitude we’re experiencing right now.

Over the past few months, I have had quite a few people recommend to me a podcast called “The Telepathy Tapes.” I recently started listening to it, and it is nothing short of miraculous. In a nutshell, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of parents of non-verbal, autistic children who are discovering that their kids are, among other astounding things, telepathic. These kids are displaying complete and total next-level spiritual gifts. The experiences are mind-blowing. After just a few episodes, I was speechless. In our spiritual circles, we’ve been talking about the evolution of humanity and The New Human for quite some time. It’s no longer just an idea that will arrive “some day,” it’s here now. The New Earth is present and has been the whole time. Humanity was just so dead set on forcing this new reality into an old pre-existing model in order to make sense of it, they completely missed the mark. Parents are discovering that their children have deep and vast inner lives due to other-wordly abilities that perceive beyond the physical realm. They aren’t absent from reality as old-world science said they were; they’re actually existing on a level of reality that most of us haven’t even touched yet. They’ve been living in a universe of their own creation since they were born, despite the limitations the outside world tried to place upon them.

It took me a couple of days to fully integrate the implications of the emergence of the true nature of these individuals. Society had largely decided they were severely disabled and had relegated them to a life of suffering and limitation. That perspective couldn’t be further from the truth.

My point is that the new reality is here; we just have to be willing to see it.

The old institutions that are resisting our reality-bending paradigm shift are simply self-selecting themselves to the dustbin of history.

The challenge at the moment is to see beyond the chaos. Or better yet, learn how to use the chaos as a tool of transformation and creation. The flow of energy that we’re currently swimming in is not going to slow down any time soon. That’s the whole point. We’re not here to suffer through the waves until they subside, we’re here to become better surfers.

The antiquated idea that there is a narrowly defined set of rules and regulations you must abide by in order to be a successful, acceptable, human being is horseshit. The shift we’re currently in the midst of is about returning YOU to the position of authority in your life. It’s about reclaiming the agency we’ve been so readily offloading to other people. It’s about leveling up to the version of your life that you’ve previously been told was impossible or unrealistic. It’s about turning away from the systems of exclusion, control, and manipulation to build your own reality.

There’s a quote by Shirley Chisholm I’ve been pondering a lot lately. She said: “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” While I understand and appreciate the meaning behind that quote, I also am of the mind to say “Forget bringing your own chair to a table you weren’t invited to, go build your own table.”

The old ways of external controllers masquerading as benevolent caretakers are going to continue to collapse and implode. Whether they were created intentionally or by accident, is of no matter. The corrupt systems and those who built them were never in our best interests. The current status quo only serves those who define and protect it. When we stop supporting those who would sustain it, it crumbles.

The swirling clouds of dust and debris that chaos inevitably stirs up are a hindrance to observing the outside world, and that’s actually a good thing. That temporary blindness provides an opportunity to cultivate clarity from within. The true nature of who and what you are doesn’t require permission from the outside world to exist. It does, however, need your permission to be expressed. Only you can decide to allow yourself to create your vision of paradise.

Another thing my guides told me years ago was, “Your job is not to put out the fire; your job is to build something new so that when the fires go out, people have somewhere to go.”

You’re awake and on this planet for a reason.

I can't tell you what to do, but I can encourage you to ponder what it is that you’re ready to create. Think in terms of living as an example of what is possible when one is tapped into a higher reality. More than anything, your legacy will be HOW you lived. You’re here to create a model and a template that’s not been expressed before. Just like the people in "The Telepathy Tapes" who are now redefining what it is to be human in real time. It ultimately doesn’t matter what the consensus reality tells you. Your gifts belong to you, and nobody can take them. You certainly don’t need permission to express them. At some point though, you must decide to take action and use them.
